About the Cup
The Malaysia Testing Cup is an online, hands-on open competition that challenges Malaysia’s SQA and software testing professionals to demonstrate their exceptional skills in a time-boxed, bug-hunting endeavour. As the Pre-Qualifier to World’s Best Tester Competition, top winners of this competition will move on to represent Malaysia and competing against leading testers from around the world.

Who can enter
- Open to all Malaysians, and/or foreigners currently studying or working in Malaysia.
- Compete as a team of 1 or 2. Each team must have a Team Name. Participation in multiple teams is prohibited.
- Participants provide their own equipment and internet connectivity.
- Each participant receives their own login credentials by email before the competition.
Registration and fees
Participation is FREE. Registration is open from 8 October until 11:59 pm, 30 October 2026.
- Any cancellation or withdrawal must be notified to MSTB by 5 November 2026.
- The ten (10) highest-ranked winners of the Malaysia Testing Cup will be selected to represent Malaysia in the World’s Best Tester competition.
- If you are selected to represent Malaysia, you must commit to take part on Wednesday 2 December 2026. Otherwise, the spot will be given to the next highest-ranked winner.

Competition format

- The competition is fully online. Join from any location you choose.
- The official language is English. All competition materials, instructions, defect reports and submissions must be in English.
- Teams join the online session with the camera switched on and remain visible on camera throughout the competition.
- MSTB reserves the right to amend any part of the competition format, or justifiably disqualify teams before competition day. All participants will be notified of any such changes.

How you are judged
The objective is to identify and report the highest number of valid defects, with quality characteristics such as completeness, severity and impact. Apply ISTQB® terminology and syllabus body of knowledge in the different testing activities you carry out during the competition.

Enhancement requests, feature suggestions and “nice-to-have” improvements are not considered defects. All judging outcomes are final.

Each person registers individually, including both members of a two-person team. Teammates must type their team name exactly the same, so we can match you up. Registration is free and closes at 11:59 pm, 30 October 2026.
