The Test Design Competition (TDC) 2025 is a premier competition designed to challenge university students in the field of software testing and test design. It provides a platform for participants to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, enhancing their problem-solving and analytical skills. Through a series of structured challenges, students will experience a work-like testing environment, compete with peers from other universities, and gain valuable exposure to industry best practices. This is your chance to test your skills, think critically, and showcase your expertise in software quality assurance!

Competition Details

  • Open to undergraduate students in teams of four (4), with one supervising lecturer.
  •  
  • Maximum of 20 teams accepted (universities may nominate up to 3 teams).
  • At least 3 Malaysian students per team (1 foreign student allowed).
  • Advanced Assignment (65 points)
  • Over-the-Weekend Challenge (25 points)
  • Final Presentation to Judges (10 points)
  • Bonus Points for innovation & professionalism (up to 20 points)

Terms & Conditions

1. Participation MUST be on a group basis;

2. Each group MUST comprise four (4) undergraduate students, and MUST be accompanied by a supervising lecturer;

3. Registration is REQUIRED for each group members, including the supervising lecturer;

4. Only one (1) group member can be foreign student, the rest MUST be Malaysian citizens;

5. Scoring for the competition will comprise four parts which are:

  1. Advanced assignment (up to 65 points); B. ‘Over-the-weekend’ test challenge (up to 25 points); C. Presentation (up to 10 points); D. Bonus up to 20 points for demonstration of professionalism, maturity and/or innovation during “over-the-weekend” test challenge

6. A maximum of twenty (20) groups will be accepted for this competition. Ideally, the TDC 2025 organiser would want to have ONE (1) group per University. However, University may nominate up to three (3) groups for TDC 2025 – where, the second or third group will be accepted if there is any vacant slot within the limit of twenty (20). Selection of the additional groups shall be done via balloting;

7. All group are required to participate in “over-the-weekend” test challenge; and

8. Presentation to Panel of Judges, which will take place at the end of ‘over-the-weekend’ test challenge, MUST be done by student members of the group.
